A diamond’s cut is the most critical component of the diamond; it is what gives the stone its brilliance, sparkle and fire. These are the three main attributes of a diamond. A small percentage of diamonds fluoresce when exposed to ultraviolet light. They emit a blue or yellow light which is caused by trace amounts of boron, usually, that seep into the diamond during its creation. The fluorescence does not affect the diamond’s value but still is listed in the grading report.
